JAMES CURTIS, ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH -- GIRLS
Coach Curtis is in his 12th season with MVHS wrestling. He is currently in his 3rd season as the girls head coach. He has also been an assistant Varsity coach and was the team’s Head JV coach for several seasons. Coach Curtis has been in charge of developing and running the team’s wrestling-specific training program throughout the postseason (spring and summer) as well as during the season. He has a variety of experiences and impressive wrestling knowledge that greatly benefits the entire program. Coach holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, with a minor in Coaching from the University of Nevada - Las Vegas. He has coached successfully for several years in both Nevada and Colorado. He was a two-time Nevada State Wrestling Champion. Coach Curtis is currently teaching Physical Education and Adventure at Mountain Vista HS. Coach is married with two daughters, one a junior at MVHS, the other is an alumni.
AVERY HARTER, ASSISTANT GIRLS COACH
Avery Harter began grappling at a young age and participated in wrestling her freshman year of high school at Thunder Ridge as the only girl on the all boys team. Her sophomore year she participated in the first pilot women wrestling season, placing second at state. She finished her high school career on Mountain Vista’s co-op girls wrestling team and was a participant in the first official Colorado women’s state tournament. She is now in college and is returning as assistant coach for the girls team.
